An introduction to V-98 with the very first instalment of the blog series. I will share the evolution and background stories of the brand but also offer you a front-row seat to the influences that have shaped its unique identity. In the creative background of my Art and Design college course, in 2017, a spark ignited. Fuelled by influence for renowned streetwear brands like Supreme, Palace, The Hundreds, Only NY, and BAPE, I envisioned a fusion of my artistic creations with the fabric of fashion. The graphics highlighting their t-shirts and hoodies inspired my own artistic vision within this creative field. I began the process of translating my artwork to wearables. Scanning my creations into the digital form, I used Photoshop to refine and resize each idea so it could fit onto fabric. Starting with rudimentary materials and an iron, I experimented with heat-pressing my ideas onto white, black, and vibrant orange canvases. To my surprise, the project was a success, prompting the unveiling of my creations at the college exhibition. The response was very positive, from students, teachers and a care-taker/janitor, captivated by the intrigue of an item. This unexpected response gave me my motivation, propelling me to explore the vast digital landscape and share my creations with a wider audience. The V-98 journey unfolded. A journey not confined to exhibition halls but extending into the expansive realms of online markets. The growth of the website and presence on various platforms mirrored the expansion of my creative universe, with each release marking a new chapter in the narrative.
